So much more than just an exercise in compliance
While an audit is often viewed as an onerous exercise that must be undertaken simply to fulfil an organisation’s regulatory obligations, at Brewers, we see it as far more than that – as a positive process and a series of opportunities. An opportunity:
- to identify areas in which accounting system efficiencies could be made to save costs and enhance improvements in net reserves.
- to identify areas in which reporting systems improvements could be made.
- to bring a more modern approach to accounts presentation, making the annual accounts and report a chance for you to promote and shout about your activities, objectives, needs and successes.
We pride ourselves on our robust methodology and service delivery:
Audit planning – we place great importance on planning an assignment and, wherever possible, carry it out in collaboration with our client.
Audit fieldwork – our approach to this stage is determined by evaluations made in our advanced planning stage.
Audit reporting – production of a management letter of observations and recommendations.
As registered auditors, it is essential that we remain informed of changes in legislation, Charity Commission rulings and initiatives and developments in best practice as part of our professional standards. Brewers is a member of a small network of independently-owned accounting and audit practices known as the Holborn Accountancy Tuition (HAT) Group. All members of the HAT Group use standard audit manuals and procedures written and developed by them and readily available on the commercial market. Our audit team also receives regular training and updates from HAT.
Brewers has many years of experience carrying out audit for businesses and we also have specific expertise in audit and independent examination for charities, not-for-profits and churches.
